Our programme of conveyor belts and conveyor belt systems include a heavy duty range for more harsh applications.
One such application was for the Royal mail recently, where a conveyor belt was required to work continuously for 24 hour periods for large parts of the week, every week.
The Royal Mail demands that machinery on their sorting lines are very reliable and they have strict rules about the materials used, the motor manufacturers used and also the ancillary electrical equipment used.
Their aim is that they have a few key component suppliers so that they only have to cover these key suppliers for spare parts.
The conveyor we built for them had to have an SEW Euro-drive motor and electrical equipment such as switchgear provided by another reputable company.
The belt fitted was a Habasit belt. Other than that the construction was standard heavy duty.
The conveyor was intended to be used in an area where parcels and large letters were manually sorted. This is why 2 of the sides of the conveyor were fitted with a heavy duty steel side guide 300mm high.
This allows the operators to throw sacks onto the belt before emptying them and then sorting the parcels.
No doubt that the conveyor belt supplied will provide years of continuous service.
